Short: AROS - Amiga Replacement OS
Author: Aaron "Optimizer" Digulla (digulla@fh-konstanz.de) and many others
Uploader: Aaron "Optimizer" Digulla (digulla@fh-konstanz.de)
Version: 1.2
Type: misc/emu
This project's goal is to provide a public available AmigaOS which
is compatible with AmigaOS 3.1 (Kickstart 40.70) able to run on
other hardware than the Amiga (but on the Amiga also). The current
memberlist:
Aaron "Optimizer" Digulla
Matthias Fleischer
Adrian Halamoda
and some 300 others (which are not mentioned here since they have not
written a line of code yet).
There are six archives which contain different things:
AROSdev##.lha
AROSdev##u.lha
AROSusr-amiga##.lha
AROSusr-amiga##u.lha
AROSutil-amiga##.lha
AROSutil-amiga##u.lha
where ## is the version-number. The dev archive contains all files
neccessary to create usr and dev archives and to build/port the
complete tree. The usr-amiga archive contains only files neccessary to
use AROS on Amiga (like exec.library) in binary format. When other
platforms become available, they will be named in a similar way (eg.
usr-hpux or usr-sun or usr-pc or...). util-amiga contains a set of
binaries which are neccessary to build and maintain AROS (eg. GNU make).
The u-Archives contain just the files that changed from the last version
(ie. AROSdev12u makes AROSdev12 from AROSdev11).
